Pelicans Reef

About Us

Chef and owner, John Broshar, was a regular customer of the Pelican’s Reef when it opened 25 years ago.

He and his wife, Patti, bought into the restaurant 17 years ago and are now sole owners since 2012. John and his team have created a robust menu with seafood as the main attraction. The menu is inspired by the seasonal availability of seafood obtained daily. The vibe of the Pelican’s Reef is laid back island style with Jimmy Buffett playing in the background and lots of kitschy signage. Much of the “artwork” has been donated by loyal customers who bring back trinkets from their tropical vacations. The restaurant and the menu are both family friendly. Stop in for an ice cold beer and a platter of oysters or some peel-and-eat shrimp!

Jay W. Cincinnati, OH We try to go weekly! I have had hundreds of meals at Pelican's and I have to say I have never been disappointed. They have a great menu and the specials are awesome! One of my favorites that they have everyday is the Caesar Salad! My favorite special is the Seafood, shrimp and lobster, Mac and Cheese. The staff is top notch and really know how to take care of the customer!
Derl C. Burlington, KY I've been going there for the past 8-9 years and always find the food truly amazing. I moved further away a couple years ago. Instead of a 20 minute drive, it now takes me almost 40 minutes to get to the restaurant. Now I don't go as often but, when I do want that Florida Keys feel and a great grouper sandwich, I find my way there. Also, my wife loves the salmon and Friday night asparagus special. If they opened one near Florence, KY, I'd go a lot more often..
Brandy H. Cincinnati, OH We were there yesterday and once again it was amazing. The Lobster Bisque is spot on perfect. The calamari, couldn't be any better. The Cuban sandwich was so huge we both had some and brought some home. I love this place. Can't wait to return!! :)

Pan Sauteed Crab Cakes - This place is a great little restaurant. It's hidden in a plaza and if you didn't know any better you would almost dismiss it as a dive. It's a great find. The atmosphere is very relaxing and quaint. The food is excellent. My favorite is the pan seared crab cakes - they are excellent and I am very picky about crab cakes. The sweet potato fries are great as well. This is a nice place to go to grab a few drinks and have some great seafood. The prices of the entrées are very reasonable - especially given that it's high quality and delicious! I highly recommend Pelicans Reef and will always go back to this place!!

I love the Pelican Reef! Whenever we go, it's like taking a trip to the Florida Keys--without the mileage. We've never had a bad meal or a bad time. The food is tasty, reasonably priced and just what it should be for a neighborhood bar and grill (in the Keys), plus the Reef is a very welcoming friendly place. I am always surprised when we leave to find that I am really still in Ohio! (Sigh)
